Chrysanthemum Stone Chrysanthemum stone is comprised of dolomite, gypsum-bearing clay, limestone, or porphyry with lath-like crystals of andalusite, celestite, feldspar, or calcite which are grouped into a pattern resembling blooming autumnal chrysanthemum flowers. Chrysanthemums symbolize longevity, dependability, and the wishes for a long duration of anything wonderful: success, marriage, career, etc. Its blossoms are dried for tonics, cosmetics, and sedatives, as well as brewed into a soothing tea for the summer. Paired with plum blossoms, this flower represents an easy life from birth to retirement. Coupled with nine quails, the chrysanthemum symbolizes harmony and peace to nine generations of a family. The tea is used also as an eye wash. Chrysanthemum ashes are used as a
pesticide, and blossoms can be powdered to dispel a hangover. Because
this flower comes in such a wide range of colors, do match the color to
its corresponding direction. The patterns of certain stones, such as rhodochrosite, sodalite,
snowflake obsidian, and ruby in zoisite, are nature's abstract art. To
hold one of these stones and study its designs is, in itself, a
meditation. |
